Earth hour 2009

Posted by Rabbit

YEap it's Earth Hour 2009 on the 28th March 2009. So are u all going to switch off your lights? your computers? your handphones? Lolz.. =P

VOTE EARTH
YOUR LIGHT SWITCH IS YOUR VOTE

This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.

For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from.

VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts.

Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.
VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.

Saturday, March 28, 8:30-9:30pm.

The Lock Up

Posted by Rabbit

Nope it is not about The Lock Up themed restaurant in Japan but i was locked up in my university.

As u all know, currently i am in Institute of Research in Molecular Medicine (INFORMM) in USM. Yeah only the institute's name itself already sounds canggih/sophisticated. Well i don't deny that it is the best institute in USM Penang itself. It even has an huge elavator in it although it is just a 2 storey building. LoLz

Well since the name itself is already "canggih", the security there is even more "canggih". All the doors in INFORMM is programmed at such it will automatically unlock at 8 am and also automatically LOCK at 6.30pm sharp. Other than those time it is unlock, which means in other words if it is lock, one have to use it's ID card to scan and open the door manually which i have yet to receive my ID card.

So on Thursday itself, as i was having quite a number of workloads, i totally forgot about the auto-locking system of the door. So after happily finish all my stuff, i walk towards the exit entrance and found myself LOCKED UP in the institute. I looked at my watch and it is already 7 pm. wtf.. It was really nerve breaking at that time. I don't want to stay overnight in the institute although they have showers and etc facilities in it for all those scientist to overnight if they are too tired. So i ran around to see if there is any samaritans who are not back yet. Luckilly there is a staff who is still inside the building and he kindly scans open to unlock the door for me. If not, then i think i would really have to overnight in my institute. LoLz

Anyway on Friday night, i went to the Food Fair organised by the state government in PISA Penang. Basically the place was quite huge with more than 100 stalls i think. There are also a stage performance and i love the trio girl bands singing English songs.. Pretty girls with good voices... Sangat merdu betul nyanyian mereka tu. Besides that, there are also cultural performances, "balitong" sucking competition, hotdog bun eating competition in 3 minutes and others more..

Below are some pictures..

P.S : ANyway i have put up a new song in my blog titled "The Show" by Lenka.. nice song though.. Love it.. ^^

It was a long weekend.. Nothing much happened. No juicy gossips.. LoL. Anyway went to Queensbay Mall on Monday night. Wanted to buy some T-shirts but ended up going back empty handed. Went to Esprit, nothing which i like. Same goes to Jusco and Padini.

Anyway had dinner at Dragon-i. It was already 8 something near to 9 pm that time but the queue was still long. Dragon-i really do really has a brisk business. Some random shots while i'm waiting for my turn to be seated.

There was some furniture fare by ARREDO if i am not mistaken.

The hot & sour La Mian which i ordered.

Xiao Long Pau!! A must whenever i go dragon-i

Some deep fried beancurd. Had some difficulty to pick up the "soft jelly-fish" texture using chopstick. =.=""

And some vegetables with fish slices.
That's all for now.. Cheers!!

Friday

Went back to Aimst Uni to do some stuff.. claim my medical bill, renew insurance and the main task is to collect exam slip but the slip is not ready yet.. sweat.. =.=""

Anyway drop by Maxim cake shop to get some portuguese egg tarts... Don't know if it is that nice like last time though.

Saturday

Went to see a few showhouse.. Went to have a look at the Bukit Dumbar Villa showhouse.. the town house is kinda nice i would say.. 3 storey.. with 5 rooms, 5 bedrooms, 2 living rooms with 1 living room have a ceiling height of more than 15 feet.. Impressive~~!! Built up area was about 2700 square feet.. Personally i love this townhouse but price was quite pricey for a townhouse.. about RM650k. But at least it will be better than keeping the money in the bank when the interest rate is down to only 2%.. so low.. =.=""

Then we proceeded to Penang Times Square to view it's condominium.. Well it was not quite impressive i would say.. Only 2 bedrooms.. more suitable for a bachelor like me to stay.. wakaka.. built up was about 1000 square feet.. selling for about RM380k.. Yeah very pricey due to the speculation of house prices in Penang. What to do, Penang Island's house price is the most expensive in Malaysia though.. Monthly service charge will be about RM220 permonth.

However, parents are more interested to this condo as they say it is very convenient for them as a holiday home due to the easy access to all the ammenities around that area. (town area) and besides that the shopping mall is just below the condominium.. lolz

Anyway below are some snapshots of Penang Times Square Shopping Mall..

The famous bull for the year 2009 by Ivory Properties i think..

Anyway i saw a food outlet in Times Square named Haven's Delight.. they sell ala carte and also buffet style.. i think something like Tao. For the buffet it is RM50++ perperson and they claim that they have more than 200 dishes to choose from Japanese, Shanghainese, Western, Chinese bla bla bla.. So anybody who wants to go there and try, do give me a buzz.. =P
